Youth Entrepreneurs Equipped With Business Proposal Skills at Don Bosco VTC Bombo

BOMBO, UGANDA — In a major step toward fostering youth entrepreneurship, five promising trainees from Don Bosco Vocational Training Centre Bombo took part in an intensive business proposal development workshop on August 19, 2026.

The group comprising of four females and one male —was selected from a competitive pool of six candidates (four females and two males) to receive seed capital aimed at launching their business ventures.

Organized by Mr. Egesa Stephen, the centre’s Job Service Officer, the training aimed to equip the young innovators with the practical tools needed to transform their vocational skills into viable, funded enterprises.

Reframing the Business Proposal

Led by trainer Mr. Elungat Simon, the practical session focused on the fundamentals of drafting a compelling proposal. Mr. Elungat urged participants to approach business creation by first identifying a community problem, assessing its impact, and developing a tailored solution.

“A proposal is not merely drafting a budget,” Mr. Elungat emphasized during the session. “It’s a conversation in writing like you are communicating to someone verbally.”

By the conclusion of the workshop, each participant had successfully drafted an initial sketch of their business proposal. Mr. Elungat instructed the trainees to refine these drafts into polished, formal business plans in the coming days.

Next Steps to Capital

Winding up the session, Mr. Egesa Stephen commended the participants for their dedication and time sacrifice. He reminded the ambitious entrepreneurs that writing the proposal is only the first hurdle.

The trainees are scheduled to return on August 25, 2026, where they will formally present and defend their business proposals before a panel to secure their allotted seed funding.
