Gender Responsive Pedagogy ToT for Don Bosco TVETs held at Don Bosco Namugongo
“A skilled technician is good but a skilled technician trained in a respectful equal environment is more employable.”
From 20th to 21st August 2026, Instructors, Gender Officers and management team attended and participated in a ToT on Gender Responsive Pedagogy (GRP); a teaching approach that ensures that female, male, PwDs, and other vulnerable learners have equal opportunities and participation in their classrooms or workshops. GRP equips trainers with knowledge, skills and attitudes to teach without bias and to create a learning environment where no one is left behind because of gender.
The two days training brought together 25 (F09 M16) participants from the three Don Bosco TVET centres in Uganda (Kamuli, Palabek and Bombo). The training was facilitated by the consultant team lead by Ms. Jennifer Taaka.
In his opening remarks, the Principal Don Bosco VTC Bombo on behalf of the Salesians commended the Austrian Development Cooperation and Jugend Eine Welt for the partnership and financial support that has enabled ongoing formation of various stakeholders at the TVET centres as collaborators in creating equal opportunities for all learners there by creating responsive and inclusive TVET Ecosystem.
