On Monday 5TH June, 2023, as part of the annual celebration of World Environment Day, Green Club Members at St. Joseph Vocational Training Centre Kamuli participated in activities to mark the International Environment day that included interactive sessions on the importance of environmental conservation, cleaning the compound and tree planting facilitated by Kamuli District Environmental Officer Mr. Samuel Byakaki.
This is under the programme titled Gender Matters for Green TVET with funding from the Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC) and Jugend Eine Welt (JEW).
The programme is being implemented in five Don Bosco TVET Centres: three in Uganda namely St. Joseph Vocational Training Centre Kamuli, Don Bosco Vocational Training Centre Bombo and Don Bosco Vocational Training Centre Palabek and two in Rwanda namely Don Bosco TVET School Muhazi and Don Bosco TVET School Gatenga. This is a four years programme from 2023 to 2026.
The aim of the programme is to contribute to improved access to and participation in market relevant, green technical and vocational employment/self-employment for vulnerable adolescent girls and young women in Uganda and Rwanda.
