From June 5th to the 9th, 2023, AGL Team attended a five-day training workshop of trainers on Child Safeguarding and Protection that was organized by Don Bosco Tech Africa.

The objectives of this training were to provide the participants with basic knowledge, help them prepare their different trainings at the local level, gain new skills and to strengthen their knowledge on Child Safeguarding and Protection.

The participants were both the Salesians of Don Bosco and their lay collaborators coming from various Salesian communities in the 11 countries namely Rwanda, Uganda, Burundi, Zambia, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Kenya, Tanzania, South Sudan and Nigeria.

After participation in this training, Father BASHEMIZIMANA Thierry from AGL-Scholasticat Don Bosco Kabgayi, said he learned a lot about children’s safeguarding and protection.

He said, “I came to the training for trainers, I didn’t expect to learn a lot about how to protect children, but we learned a lot that will make us raise our children better around the communities where we came from.”

During the closing ceremony, Br. John NJUGUNA, the deputy director of Don Bosco Tech Africa thanked the participants for their various contributions during the training.

He told them that he is expecting a lot from them and he assured them of his support in case needed.
