Galvanized Water Tank Installed at Don Bosco VTC Palabek to Support Community and Agriculture
Palabek, July, 2025 — A new galvanized water tank with a capacity of 150,000 liters is currently being installed at Don Bosco Vocational Training Center (VTC) in Palabek, promising to significantly benefit the local community. The project, financed by Salesian Missions based in New Rochelle, aims to enhance water storage capabilities during the dry season, which often sees temperatures soaring up to 43°C in January and February.
The primary purpose of the water tank is to provide a reliable water source for irrigation, enabling farmers and community members to sustain their crops during the dry months. This initiative is expected to benefit at least 1,000 people, many of whom rely heavily on agriculture for their livelihood.
“At Don Bosco Mission in Palabek, we remain committed to supporting our community through sustainable solutions and compassion,” said Brother Hubert Twagirayezu, the Economer of the mission. “Our ongoing initiatives, such as the installation of the water tank, exemplify our dedication to improving the lives of those we serve, especially during the challenging dry season. Together, we strive to build resilience and hope for a brighter future.”
With the ongoing installation, the center hopes to improve water management and promote resilience amid the challenging dry season conditions. The project underscores the commitment of Salesian Missions to support community development and sustainable agriculture in Palabek.
Once completed, the water tank will serve as a crucial resource, helping to mitigate the impact of droughts and ensuring a more stable water supply during some of the hottest months of the year.
