Foundation Stone laid for the Construction of a one-storey building at Don Bosco Muhazi TVET School

The Management of Don Bosco Muhazi TVET school, Educative Community, students and staff are happy as the foundation stone was laid for the construction of a new one-storey building that will include the classroom section, ICT Room, offices and practice area.

The Foundation Stone was laid on the 20th October, 2022  by ANDREIA DOS SANTOS, ACTEC Project Manager for Haiti & Rwanda together with the management of salesian administration represented by Father UFITAMAHORO Servilien, the Provincial Economer/PDO Director, Staff  as well as the technical team that will follow up on the construction works.

The 2-storey building is going to be constructed at Don Bosco Muhazi TVET School, thanks to good partnership between the Salesians of Don Bosco in the Africa of Great Lakes Province and ACTEC,-Association for Cultural, Technical and Educational Cooperation which is a Belgian NGO created in 1982 to strengthen the role and autonomy of marginalized people by training them in a profession.

In December 2021, ACTEC announced the good news to the Salesians of Don Bosco of the Africa Great Lakes Province that the Belgian government has agreed to fund various projects that ACTEC will undertake for the year 2022-2026.

In these projects which will be funded by the Belgium Government through ACTEC, there is a capacity building project for Don Bosco Muhazi technical and vocational training school in Rwanda.

DON BOSCO MUHAZI Students will gain a lot from this project as It was explained during the official launch of the project. 

Apart from having new classrooms, young people have now started to gain from the entrepreneurship programs which are part of the project. Teachers have also started to gain from the training to equip them with the advanced knowledge so as to be able to transfer quality skills to the young people who are pursuing various Trades at Don Bosco Muhazi TVET School.

Mr. Jean Claude, one of the teachers at Don Bosco Muhazi TVET school commented: “We are really very happy about Andrea’s visit here at Don Bosco Muhazi TVET school. She laid the foundation stone for the new building. This is also an opportunity for our masonry students to practice and a job opportunity for unemployed former students.”

The five-year project includes construction of new classrooms and renovation of the existing classrooms, capacity building for trainers, Promotion of ICT, promotion of environmental and cultural Club, introduction of new modules to be launched at the center, state-of-the-art training equipment, student development and literacy, among other aspects that will be touched during the project implementation.
