Don Bosco Vocational Training Centre in Palabek Organizes Skills Competition to Foster Talent and Industry Collaboration
On November 6, 2025, Don Bosco Vocational Training Centre Palabek hosted a prominent skills competition among its trainees. The event aimed to celebrate the exceptional talents acquired by students and to strengthen collaborations between the institution and local companies, promoting innovation and workforce development.
The program commenced with a strategic meeting between the center’s representatives and invited industry partners. Key discussions centered around identifying skill gaps in the current labor market, with a focus on integrating these insights into the centre’s curriculum. This initiative seeks to bridge the gap between training and employment, facilitating the smooth transition of graduates into the workforce.
The competition was attended by 178 students, comprising 109 males and 69 females, across various courses offered at the center. It served as a platform for students to showcase their skills, foster industry-relevant innovation, and promote employment connections.
In his remarks, Deputy of Study, Fr. Nijimbere Diomede, urged students to continue honing their skills even after graduation to seize emerging opportunities. He emphasized the importance of ongoing skill development for improved employability.
Tom from the Office of the Prime Minister, serving as the guest of honor, encouraged students to not only focus on technical skills but also to develop soft skills such as communication and client management. He praised the instructors for equipping students with transformative skills that are positively impacting the lives of both refugee and host community youth.
This event was part of the Gender Matter for Green TVET project, funded by ADC (Austrian Development Cooperation) and Jugend Eine Welt, aiming to enhance vocational training and employment prospects in the region.
