Don Bosco Gatenga TSS Students Champion Environmental Protection on International Environment Day
Gatenga, Rwanda – June 5, 2025 – Students and teachers at Don Bosco Gatenga TSS (Technical Secondary School) actively celebrated International Environment Day on June 5th, 2025, demonstrating their commitment to environmental stewardship.
The event, centered around the theme “Ending Plastic Pollution.” was spearheaded by the school’s Green Club, with the participation of 50 students (35 girls and 15 boys), 4 teachers, and a Gender Officer.
The day was marked by a series of hands-on activities aimed at improving the school environment. Participants engaged in comprehensive cleaning activities, sweeping the school grounds, pulling weeds from garden beds, and collecting non-biodegradable waste such as plastic bottles and bags.
Throughout the day, participants emphasized the importance of personal responsibility and collective action in preserving the environment. Students were encouraged to act as role models for their peers and community, promoting awareness and encouraging sustainable practices. Teachers committed to constant teaching and supervising.
The students and teachers expressed great satisfaction with the activities and the collaborative spirit they displayed. The day was a resounding success, reinforcing the school’s dedication to fostering environmental consciousness among its students and the broader community.
