Women’s Day at Don Bosco Vocational Training Centre – 10th march 2026

At Don Bosco VTC, we are used to the sounds of engines humming and tools clashing. But this International Women’s Day, the campus resonated with a different kind of energy: a shared commitment to a future where gender is not a barrier, but a bridge.

The day began under the morning sun with an assembly that felt less like a routine and more like a rallying cry. As students and staff gathered, the atmosphere was one of quiet dignity. The opening address reminded us that while we teach technical skills, our most important “vocation” is the way we treat one another.

The centerpiece of the morning was a presentation on the theme “Give to Gain.” In a competitive world, the idea of “giving” to get ahead can seem counterintuitive. However, the session deconstructed this beautifully:

  • Giving Respect gains us a culture of safety.
  • Giving Support gains us a more efficient workforce.
  • Giving Credit gains us a loyal and motivated team.

The message was clear: when men and women stop competing for space and start creating space for one another, the entire institution thrives.

The afternoon transitioned from reflection to high-energy action. Through a series of strategic party games, the “dynamics of living and working” were put to the test and cultural dances that depicted our cultures and strengths as young men and women.

These weren’t just games and dances; they were social experiments. In challenges that required mixed-gender teams to solve puzzles and navigate obstacles, the “macho” stereotypes and “quiet” expectations began to melt away.

The games highlighted a vital truth: in the workshop and in life, the best results come from a symphony of strengths, not a hierarchy of gender.

As the music faded and the games ended, the takeaway remained. Don Bosco VTC isn’t just training electricians, plumbers, or tailors; it is cultivating a generation of men and women who know how to walk side-by-side.

We celebrated the women among us—not just for their presence, but for the resilience and perspective they bring to our halls every single day.
