ProFuturo Digital Education Maintained: Salesians of Don Bosco Receive Replacement Tech Toolkits
Since its initial rollout in 2019, the ProFuturo Digital Education Program has worked to integrate digital tools into classrooms and reduce the educational gap in vulnerable communities across Rwanda.
Originally launched in partnership with the Rwandan Ministry of Education (MINEDUC), the Rwanda Basic Education Board (REB), and strategic partners like Salesians of Don Bosco, World Vision and the UNHCR, the initiative continues to support digital learning environments today.
Continuing this mission, the Salesians of Don Bosco in the Africa of the Great Lakes Province have recently received a targeted delivery of new digital equipment. A total of 181 tablets, 15 computers, and various tech accessories were delivered to the province as “replacement toolkits”.
These newly arrived devices are specifically intended to replace older educational equipment that had become obsolete in certain schools.
To support the digital infrastructure of these specific classrooms, the newly acquired laptops are designated to be used as local servers.
While the Salesians currently supervise a total of 42 schools located throughout Kigali and the Southern province, this specific deployment is focused solely on replenishing the outdated stock in 31 schools.
The deployment of these replacement toolkits remains a critical component of the program’s broader educational mission.
Salesians’ ambitious target is to directly reach 300 teachers and empower over 13,000 students every year.
By replacing these crucial resources, the Salesians of Don Bosco and the ProFuturo program are ensuring that students and educators maintain access to the reliable tools they need to succeed in today’s digital landscape.
