Kigali: Follow up meeting held ahead of Gender Matters in #GreenTVET launch

Kigali: 23rd September 2022: A meeting was held at the Salesian Provincial House in Kigali as a follow up towards the adoption of Gender Action Plan for Don Bosco TVET centres in Uganda and Rwanda. This is part of the Gender Matters in #The GreenTVET project slated to start in January 2023.

In Uganda the project will target Don Bosco Kamuli, Bombo and Palabek and in Rwanda, the targeted centres are Don Bosco Gatenga and DB Muhazi. The title of the project will be Gender Matters in #GreenTVET

As part of the continuous consultations, the Meeting of the 23rd September 2022 was attended by Fr Bavumiragiye Raymond, Provincial vicar & the Director of Don Bosco Muhazi, Sr Nyanzira Léocadie (Don Bosco Muhazi TVET School), Mutala Innocent (Uganda), Prossy Ogwang (Uganda), Dusabimana Felicien (Rwanda) and Ms. Uwiamana Rosine (Rwanda)

On the Agenda of the meeting was the adaptation of the Gender Action plan and Budgeting template for the project of Gender matters for Green TVET Case of Don Bosco Muhazi TVET school.

The meeting was productive because the gender action plan was adapted with the budget by following the recommendations given by the expert and donor.

In August, representatives from different Don Bosco TVET centres in Rwanda and Uganda convened in a five days workshop which took place in Kigali from 24th-30th July, 2022 to chart the way on the development of Gender Action Plan for Don Bosco TVET centres.

This was the timely move as salesians of Don Bosco seek the way to increase the number of female students enrolling in technical studies in Don Bosco TVET centres.
