From Training to Tangible Reality: ‘QMS Champions’ Forge Quality Management System Framework for Rwanda’s Salesian TVETs
KIGALI, Rwanda – On December 19, 2025, a diverse group of experts from universities, the private sector, and Rwanda’s TVET sector concluded a pivotal five-day convening focused on the development of a Quality Management System (QMS) Framework for Salesian TVETs in Rwanda.
This recent convening, which included also representatives from Don Bosco Muhazi, Don Bosco Rango, and Don Bosco Gatenga, represents the next critical step in a strategic initiative to elevate vocational training to international standards.
Building on a Foundation of Excellence
This December gathering follows a foundational Training of Trainers (ToT) workshop conducted from October 13 to October 17, 2025, at the Don Bosco Hospitality Centre.
Organized by Don Bosco Tech Africa and led by consultant Michael Otiato, that initial training focused on the ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems, aiming to embed global quality benchmarks within Rwanda’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions.
During the October sessions, participants—including TVET managers and government representatives—were urged to move beyond theory.
Assistant Prof. Majoro Felicien emphasized that for the QMS to be effective, participants must recognize its importance and integrate the knowledge into their regular daily or weekly activities.
From Spectators to “QMS Champions”
The recent efforts to prepare the QMS framework directly fulfill the mandate set by Salesian TVET Management in AGL Province.
The transition from training to framework preparation is designed to turn the management system into a “tangible reality”.
