Don Bosco Gatenga TVET School Hosts Consultative Meeting to Enhance Internship and jobs placement Opportunities for Students
Kigali, December 2, 2023 – Don Bosco Gatenga TSS School in Kigali held a consultative meeting aimed at improving internship opportunities for its students. The meeting, which took place on Saturday, was officially opened by Father Jean Pierre Turabanye, the Director of Don Bosco Gatenga TSS.
The event was organized through the Gender Matters for Green TVET project which is funded by the Austrian Development Cooperation in collaboration with Jugend Eine Welt and implemented by the Salesians of Don Bosco.
The meeting brought together the school administration and partners from various institutions particularly those that offer internship opportunities for students of Don Bosco Gatenga TSS. It provided a platform for participants to share ideas and collectively examine how students can get internships and jobs placement where possible.
During the meeting, participants discussed and evaluated the various obstacles that students face when seeking internships and employment.
The attendees also brainstormed potential solutions and provided suggestions to ensure that all students have equal opportunities in the labor market and achieve satisfactory outcomes.
Father Jean Pierre Turabanye, in his opening remarks, emphasized the importance of internships in bridging the gap between theory and practice. He highlighted the need for collaboration between educational institutions and industry partners to enhance internship programs and facilitate smoother transitions for students into the workforce.
“The success of our students depends not only on their academic achievements but also on their practical skills and experiences gained through internships,” said Father Turabanye. “By working together with our partners, we can ensure that our students are well-prepared for the challenges of the labor market.”
The consultative meeting concluded with a commitment from all participants to continue collaborating and implementing practical strategies to improve internship opportunities for students. It was agreed that regular follow-up meetings would be held to monitor progress and address any emerging challenges.
