Empowering Don Bosco TVET Centres: Training PSHEA Focal Persons and Gender Officers on Policy Implementation in Uganda and Rwanda
PSHEA Focal Persons and Gender Officers from Don Bosco TVET Centres in Uganda (Kamuli, Bombo & Palabek) and Rwanda (Gatenga & Muhazi) had a capacity building training on Prevention of Sexual Harassment, Exploitation and Abuse (PSHEA) Policy as part of the Gender Matters for Green TVET Programme.
The training took place from 9th to 12th July 2024 at Don Bosco VTC Bombo facilitated by Jenipher Taaka, Gender Expert.
The PSHEA policy aims to create a safe and secure learning environment for all students, staff and management, regardless of gender or age. Through discussions and presentations, the training aimed to build the capacity of PSHEA Focal Persons and Gender Officers to understand their roles and responsibilities and thus support management in implementation of the PSHEA Policy in Don Bosco TVET Centres.
Fr. Servilien Ufitamahoro, The Provincial Economer called upon all PSHEA Focal Persons and Gender Officers to understand their roles and responsibilities in order to support management in implementation of the PSHEA Policy and also encouraged all stakeholders to embrace the policy as he observed that the policy is relevant in our TVET Centres in addition to the Child Protection Policy.
The successful training was made possible with funding from Austrian Development Cooperation and Jugend Eine Welt. This is part of the broader Gender Matters for Green TVET programme, a four-year initiative (2023-2026) implemented in five Don Bosco TVET Centres across Uganda and Rwanda.
