Day of the African Child at Don Bosco Muhazi TVET School

On June 23, 2023, Don Bosco Muhazi TVET School celebrated the Day of the African Child with various innovations, including a football match between two teams of girls studying at the school. There was also a parade, and prizes were awarded to the students who beat others in the competition organized for the African Child Day.

It is an event organized through the Gender Matters for Green TVET Program funded by the Austrian Development Cooperation and Jugend Eine Welt and the ACTEC Program that aims to improve the quality of Education at Don Bosco Muhazi TVET School.

The day was celebrated with the theme “The Rights of the African Child in the digital Environment” which was a good opportunity to discuss the rights of the child in this age of technology and to discuss the role of partners in the fight for equality and rights of the Children and to remind parents and guardians of their role in protecting the child from any violence that can be done through technology.

The Gender Officer at Don Bosco Muhazi, Mrs. Aurore reminded the youth that they also have the responsibility to protect their rights by strengthening human and Christian values and avoiding committing scandalous activities through social media.

The Director of Don Bosco Muhazi TVET School, Father Raymond Bavumiragiye assured the youth of Don Bosco Muhazi TVET School that in cooperation with various donors including the Gender Matters for Green TVET Project and ACTEC Project they would do everything possible so that in the near future the youth are provided with the infrastructure of Technology and the school will ensure equal access to ICT programs among the young people

The celebration of the Day of the African Child at Don Bosco Muhazi was preceded by the Eucharistic Mass, followed by a football game that brought together the girls’ teams, a parade, traditional dances and an after all, a review meeting on Gender Matters for Green TVET project was held.

It is a meeting where the activities of the Gender Matters Project have been assessed and to request again that the planned activities be implemented in order to promote equality and harmony in the Vocational courses that are offered at Don Bosco Muhazi TVET school.
