Celebration Mass Held in Palabek to Honor Daniel Comboni, a Great Missionary in Africa
On October 10, 2024, a celebration mass took place at the Don Bosco Community in Palabek Refugee Settlement in Uganda to commemorate the life and legacy of Daniel Comboni, a renowned missionary in Africa. Daniele Comboni, MCCJ, was an Italian Catholic prelate who devoted his life to serving the people of Central Africa.
Comboni served as Vicar Apostolic of Central Africa from 1877 until his passing in 1881. During his time in Africa, he worked tirelessly to spread the message of the Catholic faith and to enhance the lives of local communities.
He founded both the Comboni Missionaries of the Heart of Jesus and the Comboni Missionary Sisters, organizations that continue to carry out his mission to this day.
The celebration mass was attended by many refugees from South Sudan, where Daniel Comboni began his mission.
It was a significant occasion for South Sudan refugees, acknowledging the impactful work done by Daniel Comboni in their country.
The event included prayers, hymns, and readings that emphasized Comboni’s commitment to serving others and spreading God’s love.
