French Embassy in Burundi to Empowering 40 Tailoring Winners in Don Bosco Buterere

On Monday, December 4, 2023, an official launch of a project aimed at promoting the social and economic empowerment of 40 winners of the Tailoring Trade took place at the Don Bosco Buterere TVET Centre. The project is financed by the French Embassy through the Innovative Projects of Civil Societies and Coalition of Actors (PISCCA) initiative.

The Salesians of Don Bosco in the Africa of Great Lakes Province, which includes Burundi, Rwanda, and Uganda, expressed their gratitude for this generous support that will empower young people at the Don Bosco Buterere TVET Centre.

The launch event was attended by representatives from the French Embassy, Salesians of Don Bosco, and other stakeholders. The ceremony began with an opening address by Father Ukwitegetse Callixte, in charge of TVET training at Bosco Buterere TVET Centre, who expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the French Embassy for their contribution.

The project aims to provide a platform for 40 talented individuals in the field of tailoring to enhance their skills, gain practical experience, and ultimately become successful entrepreneurs. The participants were selected through a rigorous process that assessed their passion, commitment, and potential for growth in the industry.

With the official launch of this project, the Don Bosco Buterere TVET Centre and the French Embassy have taken a significant step towards empowering young people and fostering economic growth in the Africa of Great Lakes Province.
