Partnership Sealed between Schneider Electric France Permanent Establishment Uganda and Salesians of Don Bosco Uganda TVETs.

On 18TH March 2026, St. Joseph Vocational Training Centre Kamuli hosted the formal signing of an MoU between Schneider Electric France Permanent Establishment Uganda and Salesians of Don Bosco Uganda TVETs. The event was graced by a representative from Schneider Electric Mr. Mahemba Sweetbert and Fr. Joseph Cat- Principal Kamuli and Mr. Mutala Innocent- PDO representative in Uganda. The signing was also witnessed by students and staff of St. Joseph Vocational Training Centre Kamuli.

Schneider Electric as the main (Electrical, Instrumentation, Telecommunication Systems (EITS) Integrator Contractor for the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) project, SEF PE UG  is entrusted with delivering a comprehensive suite of solutions. This includes all electrical systems, instrumentation controls, Integrated Control and Safety Systems (ICSS), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, data transmission, detection, security, and telecommunications equipment. SEF PE UG’s responsibilities encompass the provision of advanced technologies, materials, hardware, and software essential for the successful execution and operation of the EACOP project.

The MoU establishes guiding principles for the collaboration between SEF PE UG and SDB UG in the implementation of capacity building programs for Don Bosco TVET Centres (St. Joseph Vocational Training Centre Kamuli, Don Bosco Vocational Training Centre Bombo and Don Bosco Vocational Training Centre Palabek).

This collaboration will aspire to enhance local expertise, bridge skill gaps, and foster sustainable development at SDB UG with a focus on the transfer of skills and technology in the following areas:

  • Train the Trainer (TtT):Aim to develop the capacity of SDB UG by equipping trainers, and instructors with industry relevant skills and knowledge. The goal will be for these educators to impart industry aligned expertise to students, ensuring that the training provided meets current industry standards and requirements.

 

  • Internship: Intend to implement an internship program for SDB UG to offer a few selected students with hands on experience, equipping them with practical skills and industry exposure. The objective will be to develop these students as part of a skilled workforce capable of meeting industry demands, particularly in electrical, industrial automation, telecommunications and project management.

 

 

  • Industrial placements: This initiative will strive to provide short term industrial placements for lecturers and instructors from SDB UG at SEF PE UG projects or their partner projects. By providing exposure to instructors in industry environments, this program will aim to enhance their skills and practical knowledge in real life scenarios.

 

  • Equipment donations: The intention will be to provide training equipment to SDB UG, where possible, to enhance hands-on learning experiences for students. These intended donations will support industry-relevant practical training, thereby strengthening the overall training curriculum and better preparing learners for real-world applications.

On behalf of Schneider Electric, Mr. Mahemba Sweetbert reaffirmed their commitment to this partnership and promised to continue working with Don Bosco TVET Centres in Uganda by empowering instructors to be able to transfer the acquired knowledge and skills to students so that they are able to meet the demands of the labor market.
