JUGEND EINE Welt impart current market knowledge and skills on solar technologies to TVET CENTRES IN UGANDA

Jugend Eine Welt through Planning and Development Office (PDO) up skilled Public/private TVET Centre’s instructors in Uganda from Eastern Region on Solar PV. The Training of Trainers started on Monday 24TH January and ended on 28TH January 2022. The training took place at St. Joseph Vocational Training Centre Kamuli.

The training aimed at imparting current market knowledge and skills on solar technologies to enable Public/Private instructors to impart the right skills and knowledge to the youth in various technical institutes across the country to fill the skill gap on solar PV. In particular the ToT focused on solar water pumping, sizing of solar systems and at the end of the ToT, each participant made a solar suit case. This was the second round of training for electrical instructors from Public/Private TVET Centres from Eastern Uganda. The first round took place last year in January.

This is under the project titled Solar Skills Training and Environmental Education Programme initiated by Jugend Eine Welt (JEW) with funding from the Austrian Development Cooperation (ADA). The project is being implemented in three Don Bosco TVET centres in Uganda namely; St. Joseph Vocational Training Centre Kamuli, Don Bosco Vocational Training Centre Bombo and Don Bosco Vocational Training Centre Palabek. This is a four years project from 2019 to 2022.  The overall objective of the project is vocational training and learning for sustainable development as a contribution to inclusive, equitable and quality education (SDG4) and reliable and sustainable energy for all (SDG7). Thanks to our development partners for the financial and moral support.
