Empowering Vulnerable Single Mothers and Youth: New Cohort at Don Bosco Muhazi TVET Embarks on Life-Changing Training
The “Gender Matters for Green TVET” project, funded by the Austrian Development Agency and Jugend Eine Welt and implemented by the Salesians of Don Bosco, has recently welcomed a new cohort of 21 beneficiaries at Don Bosco Muhazi TVET School in Rwanda. This project continues its vital mission to support vulnerable young people and single mothers facing social and personal challenges.
Currently, the participants are engaged in active, hands-on training in agriculture and livestock. The skills they are acquiring aim to provide them with sustainable livelihoods, boost their confidence, and foster their reintegration into families and communities.

Among the beneficiaries, Sandrine Ndacyayisenga shared her inspiring story. After giving birth at home and experiencing profound hardship, she found hope and purpose in the program. “It has already made a big difference in my life,” she stated, emphasizing the positive transformation she is experiencing. Likewise, Aline Kubwimana explained how the program helped her overcome intense loneliness after being abandoned by her family. She expressed confidence that once she completes her training, she will be able to reconcile with her parents and rebuild her family ties.
Celine Maniriho, a trainer, highlighted that the initiative is here to respond to the struggles of many young women and youth facing motherhood challenges and social rejection, which often lead to depression and isolation. The program aims to bring these individuals together for peer support while providing essential skills to help them achieve economic independence and social reintegration.
The ongoing training is empowering these beneficiaries to forge brighter futures, restoring hope and fostering community cohesion. This latest cohort exemplifies the project’s dedication to transforming lives and promoting sustainable development through skill-building and social support.
