Don Bosco Technical Students in Rwanda exhibit their works at a Trade Fair in Gatenga
Kigali, Rwanda – In a bid to celebrate the achievements of Don Bosco Technical Students and promote technical education in Rwanda, a two-day trade fair was organized from December 29-30, 2023. The event, supported by Don Bosco Tech Africa and the Salesian Planning and Development Office, aimed to showcase the exceptional works of the students from the three Don Bosco Technical Schools namely Don Bosco Rango TSS, Don Bosco Gatenga TSS and Don Bosco Muhazi TVET school.
The trade fair took place at Don Bosco Gatenga TSS and attracted various visitors, including students, parents, educators, and members of the public. The event featured an impressive display of projects completed by the students, ranging from carpentry, masonry and welding to plumbing, Electricity, tailoring, Hairdressing and Culinary Arts.
Under the guidance of their dedicated instructors, the students demonstrated their skills and knowledge through interactive presentations and live demonstrations. Visitors had the opportunity to witness the creation of intricate woodwork, observe the precision of metal fabrication, among others.
Speaking to the media shortly after the official opening of the Trade Fair, the Legal Representative of the Salesians of Don Bosco in Rwanda, Father Gatete Innocent, expressed his gratitude for the support received in organizing the trade fair.
He said that “The trade fair served as a platform for our talented students to display their exceptional skills and innovative works to the public. We are grateful for the support of Don Bosco Tech Africa and the Salesian Planning and Development Office in making this event possible,”.
He highlighted the importance of promoting technical education and vocational training among the youth in Rwanda.
“The main objective of this trade fair was to promote technical education and vocational training among the youth in Rwanda. We believe that by showcasing the works of our students, we can inspire more young people to pursue careers in technical fields,” he explained.
Visitors at the trade fair were impressed by the students’ talent and dedication.
The successful trade fair not only celebrated the achievements of Don Bosco Technical Students but also highlighted the importance of technical education in Rwanda. Through their exceptional works, these talented students have inspired many young minds to explore technical fields and pursue successful careers in various industries.
In his remarks, Father Ufitamahoro Servilien, the Director of the Planning and Development Office and also the Provincial Economer, stated that the Salesian Technical Centres aim to provide high-level technical education of excellent quality, with a focus on producing tangible results.
He assured the parents and the students that the Salesians of Don Bosco would make every effort to ensure that the students continue to study well and find resources to continue advancing in Technical and vocational education.
