Don Bosco Gatenga TSS Student Ranks 9th Nationally in Electrical Technology Examination

Kigali, Rwanda – Kaberuka Theophile, a recent graduate of Don Bosco Gatenga TSS, has achieved national recognition by ranking among the top students in the country in the National Examination for Electrical Technology. Theophile, who completed studies last year, secured the nineth position nationally, achieving an impressive score of 91.95% in the examination.

Theophile’s success falls within the energy sector, which encompasses both Electrical Technology and Renewable Energy trades. Upon hearing the news, Theophile expressed feeling “incredible,” noting that reaching the top 10 was a significant achievement he celebrated wholeheartedly. He attributes his success to God and consistent hard work, recalling that he was always among the top students during internal school exams and the NESA exams held in the third term.

School Celebrates Prestigious Recognition

The news of Theophile’s ranking brought great joy to the staff at Don Bosco Gatenga TSS. According to Cubaka Ndusha Jean Claude, a trainer at the school, while they didn’t necessarily expect such a high ranking among the many competing children, the teachers had made significant efforts. Mr. Ndusha noted that Theophile was truly a very intelligent child who put in great effort.

The recognition was particularly noteworthy for the institution, as it was the first time the school had received such a prestigious national recognition.

The overall performance of the class of 60 students was also exceptional at the national level. Over 35 students scored above 80%, with some reaching as high as 90%. Only two students in the class scored below 70%.

From Student to Working Technician

While awaiting the government’s announcement regarding university placements, Theophile is actively using his technical skills. He currently holds a small job performing electrical maintenance and troubleshooting electrical issues around his village.

Theophile stressed the importance of commitment to learning, emphasizing that he valued every lesson because all subjects provide laws and principles useful in life.

Looking back on his journey, Theophile expressed deep gratitude for the support he received, particularly acknowledging the staff and the entire Salesian community at Don Bosco Gatenga TSS. He also recalled the challenging period before he secured a sponsor, noting it was a time he will never forget.

Encouraging Technical Education

Both Theophile and his trainer shared messages encouraging young people to pursue technical courses.

Theophile advises youth not to fear attending TVET schools or technical secondary schools, highlighting that there are numerous opportunities in these fields. He encourages them to join trades like electrical technology, as these provide valuable skills that help them earn a livelihood and meet their needs.

Mr. Ndusha echoed this sentiment, stating that technical training in TVET schools promotes young people in technical careers, allowing them to work and earn a good income even with a low level of qualification.
