Don Bosco Gatenga TSS Gender Club Inspires Finalist Girls to Excel in National Examinations

As part of its commitment to promoting girls’ education and academic success, the Gender Club of Don Bosco Gatenga Technical Secondary School (TSS) organized a motivational meeting for finalist girls who are preparing to sit for their National Examinations in two weeks’ time.

The meeting aimed to encourage the students to remain positive, focused, and confident during this important period while reflecting on the remarkable journey they have made from Level 3 to Level 5. It also served as an opportunity to remind them of their resilience, growth, and the bright future that lies ahead.

During the session, the Job Services Officer (JSO) delivered an inspiring message, encouraging the girls to believe in themselves and to use the remaining two weeks wisely. He emphasized that they still have the power to improve where they have made mistakes and the opportunity to achieve their dreams through determination and hard work.

He reminded the students that the upcoming National Examination is more than just an academic assessment—it is the examination that will define their professional identity and open doors to further education and employment opportunities. He encouraged them to approach the examination with confidence, discipline, and hope.

The Gender Officer also addressed the participants, highlighting the important role that girls and young women play in society. She encouraged them to continue working hard and to prepare seriously for the examinations. During her presentation, she shared the achievements of the Joint Three-Year Review, demonstrating the progress made in promoting gender equality and girls’ empowerment through the Green TVET Project. She concluded by offering practical advice on maintaining discipline, self-confidence, and determination throughout the examination period.

The meeting was further enriched by contributions from teachers. Mr. Gaspard, the Entrepreneurship teacher, encouraged the girls to prepare strategically for the National Examination by believing in their abilities, staying organized, and remaining committed to their revision plans.

Representing the finalist girls, Rebecca expressed sincere appreciation to Gender Matters through the Green TVET Project for its continuous support in empowering girls to pursue technical and vocational education. She explained that many girls initially joined the technical secondary school with fear, believing that technical courses were only meant for boys. However, through the project’s encouragement, mentorship, and support, they gained confidence and discovered that technical careers are equally suitable for girls. On behalf of her fellow students, she pledged that they would proudly represent Don Bosco Gatenga TSS by striving for excellent performance in the National Examinations.

The meeting concluded in a warm and joyful atmosphere, where participants shared refreshments, including snacks and soft drinks. This informal reception strengthened the spirit of unity, encouragement, and mutual support among the students, teachers, and staff.

The Gender Club remains committed to empowering girls, building their confidence, and ensuring they are equipped not only to succeed academically but also to become future leaders and skilled professionals who will contribute positively to society.

“Believe in yourself, work hard, and let your success become an inspiration to others.”
