DB Gatenga TVET Students on a study visit to acquire market based practical knowledge
On February 24th, 2023 and 14th March 2023, the Job Service Office at Don Bosco Gatenga TVET School in collaboration with the school management and teaching staff organized a study visit for the students in final year of the Culinary Arts and Electricity trades.
The two separates visits were held respectively in ESTB Busogo, a school of excellence located in the Northern Province and Ntaruka and Mukungwa Hydro Power Plants for the Electricity Trade Students.
The purpose of the visit is to help graduates to learn more about the latest trends on the labor market and to create relationships between private and public companies.
During the two separate visits, a group of 20 students from Culinary Arts Department accompanied by three culinary arts teachers were welcomed by the management of the school of excellence ESTB Busogo where they visited a kitchen workshop and other departments.
The students were impressed with the quality equipment and utensils at ESTB Busogo. They also visited the school’s restaurant that serves different customers and outside the school also has hotel.
Under the guidance of the teacher in charge of the kitchen department, the students were able to visit all parts of the hotel and ask questions to improve their knowledge in hotel services.
The friendly atmosphere marked the visit after which a verbal agreement for good cooperation and constant exchange of ideas was made.
Again 26 students of the Electricity trade accompanied by their teachers, on 14th March 2023, did a study visit at Ntaruka and Mukungwa Hydro power Plants. They learned a lot of things in the field of electricity. Students were eager to learn more about the functioning of the power plants.
