Children in Kigali Engage in Motivational Session and Write Christmas Letters to Sponsors
Kigali, November 2, 2025 — Twenty children enrolled in the Sponsorship Program gathered in Kimihurura for an inspiring and motivational session aimed at emphasizing their key responsibilities, particularly the importance of education. The event also provided an opportunity for the children to write Christmas greeting letters to their benefactors.
Organized through a collaboration between PDO and Missioni Don Bosco under the Sponsorship Program, which was launched in 2023, the initiative focuses on supporting disadvantaged children from the Africa of the Great Lakes (AGL) Province, including Rwanda, Burundi, and Uganda. The program’s goal is to promote equal access to education and help children build a bright, dignified future.
The primary purpose of the session was to guide children in crafting their Christmas letters to sponsors, while also reminding them of their educational and moral responsibilities. The program coordinator explained, “These letters are not just a formality. They serve as a way for children to express gratitude and share their growth journey with those who make their education possible.”

Beyond the letter writing, the event emphasized personal growth, confidence, and gratitude. Organizers highlighted that the Sponsorship Program aims not only to provide financial support but also to foster meaningful relationships between children and their benefactors.
Emmanuel, the program coordinator, noted, “When children write to their sponsors, they realize that someone cares about them. It boosts their self-esteem and motivates them to study harder.”
One of the children, 12-year-old Ribaruwariraye, shared his thoughts: “Writing to my sponsor reminded me that I am not alone. There is someone who loves me and wants me to achieve my dreams.”
Through such gatherings, the Sponsorship Program continues to reinforce its holistic approach, focusing on education, emotional well-being, and character development. The children left the session motivated to study diligently and to appreciate the generosity and care of their sponsors.
