AGL Representatives Attend Don Bosco Tech Africa TVET Systematization Workshop in Nairobi

NAIROBI, KENYA — Mr. Dominique Uwarugira and Father Turabanye Jean Pierre are proudly representing the AGL Province at a 10-day continental seminar hosted by Don Bosco Tech Africa. Running from May 18 to May 27, 2026, the workshop gathers Provincial Youth Delegates (PYDs) and Provincial Job Service Officers (P-JSOs) from across Africa and Madagascar to focus on the systematization of vocational education and training (VET). AGL Province is made of Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi

The primary aim of the initiative is to strengthen collaboration within the Don Bosco TVET network, improve quality assurance systems, and enhance data-driven decision-making. During his opening address, Fr. Maximus Okoro, the director of DB Tech Africa, emphasized that the gathering is more than a technical meeting; it is a shared Salesian commitment at the continental level. He challenged the delegates to move beyond routine program management and design systems capable of transforming the lives of young people, particularly the most vulnerable, by offering them hope, dignity, and concrete opportunities.

Throughout the seminar, our AGL delegates are participating in technical sessions, practical workshops, and peer-learning exchanges. They are gaining hands-on experience with vital tools and frameworks that support vocational education systematization, including the revised JSO Quality Manual, the Don Bosco Virtual Training Institute (DBVTI), the InserJeune traceability system, Quality Management Systems (QMS), and Zoho-based data collection tools. Crucially, Mr. Uwarugira and Fr. Jean Pierre are using these group discussions to develop concrete implementation plans tailored specifically to the needs of the AGL Province.

By actively participating in this workshop, the AGL Province is contributing to DB Tech Africa’s ongoing commitment to building a coherent, innovative, and context-responsive vocational education system. Through harmonized quality standards and evidence-based planning, the network is better positioning itself to respond to the evolving realities of the African labor market and the aspirations of millions of young people seeking meaningful employment.

This significant initiative is supported by the Salesian Missionary Provinces of Madrid (“Misiones Salesianas”) and New Rochelle (“Salesian Missions”), whose partnership continues to consolidate a sustainable and impactful Salesian TVET model across the continent.
